The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the U.S. Coast Guard within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to cooperate with each other on the development of hydrokinetic projects. These projects generate power from waves, tides, ocean currents, and the flow of rivers.

The next general meeting of the Regatta Association will be on Thursday, March 14th, starting at 7:00 pm at the Astoria City Hall in the city council chambers. The public is invited to attend what a association news release says is a "very important meeting". President Peter Roscoe will update the group on many "exciting developments", according to a news release from the organization.

The search warrant was issued following an internet investigation lasting several months involving Seaside Police Detectives and the Washington County Inter Agency Child Exploitation Prevention Team (INTERCEPT).

Anglers fishing along the Washington coast will likely see a lower catch quota for chinook salmon this year, while the quota for coho is expected to be similar to last season, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) announced today.

The Astoria City Council will meet Wednesday morning at 11:30am to award the contracts for the 11th street CSO project which is set to begin April 1.  The big project will begin with the replacement of the intersection at 8th and Commercial and a detour around the project which is expected to be completed 21 days after the closure begins.
