The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife has expanded the area where it is killing sea birds to see if they are eating young salmon. Documents show the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has allowed Oregon to expand a study started last year into how much salmon cormorants are eating from the Tillamook estuary into the Umpqua and Rogue estuaries.


The Clatsop County Clerk and Elections Office reminds local residents that Tuesday, April 30 is the deadline to register to vote in the May 21 special district election.

Oregon state Sen. Betsy Johnson has been injured in a traffic accident on her way to the legislative session under way in Salem.  Reports indicate that she was hurt Monday morning in a low-speed collision and was being treated for hip and leg injuries.


Oregon State Police (OSP) will be accepting applications to hire another group for Lateral and Entry level recruit trooper positions starting April 29, 2013 using the State of Oregon's E-Recruit electronic application system.


According to city engineer Cindy Moore, 'The contractor, Tapani, finished pouring concrete in the 8th St and Commercial intersection on Wednesday. The concrete is now curing so it will have sufficient strength to support traffic when the intersection reopens.  Tapani expects to reopen the 8th St and Commercial intersection to traffic by the end of the day on Monday".

Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into the cause of Friday evening's two-vehicle double fatal traffic crash along Highway 101 in Warrenton. The highway was closed about five hours with a detour in place.
