State officials are advising anglers and other travelers to expect delays on State Route 4 near Cathlamet this summer for a state project to replace two aging culverts beneath the highway.

The project site is located on a key route between Interstate 5 and fishing areas on the lower Columbia River, downriver from Longview.

Sean Michael Davies, 22, a U.S. Citizen residing in Warrenton, Oregon, was arrested this morning after he surrendered to agents of the FBI in connection with charges involving the planting of a fake bomb on a Dutch airliner

A huge mass of unusually warm water that scientists have dubbed "The Blob" has lurked off the West Coast for much of the past two years and speculation is growing that it may be connected in some way with the drought plaguing West Coast states.

State officials announced they have approved an application from Clatsop County, the City of Warrenton and the Port of Astoria to establish a local enterprise zone.

The Clatsop Enterprise Zone will offer temporary property tax relief to qualifying businesses setting up or expanding on selected properties.

With temperatures expected to hit triple digits in the valley the coast will be a destination to beat the heat for Portlanders over the next few days but we will see warmer days than we typically see in summertime at the beach. Forecasters now say the North Coast could climb into the low to mid 80's which might not be comfortable for many here. Pacific Power is offering some suggestions that might help.

At their meeting this week the Clatsop County Commission approved the following Fiscal Year 2015-16 budgets:

This morning, the U.S. Supreme Court issued its opinion in King v. Burwell, upholding tax credits for customers buying health insurance through both state and federal marketplaces.

Oregonians will have another place to get relief from the upcoming heatwave.

The Oregon Health Authority said Wednesday it's lifting a public health advisory for contact with water at Tolovana State Park Beach.

The advisory had been issued after samples of ocean water at the Clatsop County beach showed higher-than-normal levels of fecal bacteria.

New tests show the levels have subsided.

Warrenton's traditional old fashioned Fourth of July celebration will see some added events this year and it's not too late to get into the Main Street Parade. Parade director Cindy Yingst tells KAST News " The community center will hold a fund-raising breakfast and a local church has stepped up to offer activities for children."

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers continues to monitor snowpack levels across the Columbia River Basin. "Currently, levels are well below normal for this time of year, so we're seeing lower than normal river flows throughout the system," said Steve Barton, Chief of the Corps' Water Management Division. Basin snow below 5,000 feet in the United States is either already gone or is melting ahead of normal.

Elevated water temperatures are most likely the cause of spring Chinook salmon deaths in the Willamette River and some of its tributaries, according to fish biologists from the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.
