Mussel Harvest Closed

The Oregon Department of Agriculture and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife have extended the closure of recreational and commercial mussel harvesting to include the entire Oregon Coast, from the mouth of the Columbia River to the California border, due to high levels of paralytic shellfish toxins. The closure includes mussels found on the beaches, rocks, jetties, and bay entrances along the Oregon Coast. The closure affects only mussels.

Washington SR 4 To Reopen By 4pm

State Route 4 between Cathlamet and Longview is scheduled to reopen by 4 p.m. today, Nov. 20. The highway has been closed since 4 p.m. yesterday from just east of Cathlamet to the Germany Creek area (mileposts 36 to 48).

Revenue Forecast Averts Cuts

State economists expect Oregon to collect slightly more money in the near term than they forecast three months ago. Experts released the quarterly revenue forecast to state lawmakers on Tuesday. The latest forecast projects a slight uptick in revenue during the last six months of the current budget cycle, averting the need for major budget cuts immediately.

Ocean Park Man Arrested For 11 Counts Of Rape Of A Child In The Third Degree

On November 16th, deputies with the Pacific County Sheriff's Office arrested a male subject identified as Jonathan R. Church, age 40, of Ocean Park for suspicion of 11 counts of Rape of a Child in the Third degree.

Pre-Thanksgiving Storm Clean Up Underway

Residents in Washington and Oregon are bracing for more wet weather after a fierce pre-Thanksgiving storm. Near Seaside, Ore., a large tree fell on a fire truck, severely damaging it, but no one was hurt. Near Naselle, Wash., a mudslide hit a patrol car and another vehicle, which caught fire, but both the officer and the driver of the other car were able to escape. The driver had a minor injury.

State Warns Of Winter Beach Hazards

As the winter season draws nearer, the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) is sounding a warning to beachgoers and urging them to exercise caution. High tides, storms, and wind at this time of year can increase the potential for accident or injury on the coast.

Oregon Emergency Management received the Citizen Corps Honorable Mention Award for Individual and Community Preparedness for a project that placed emergency backpacks in Oregon coastal counties. The backpacks contain emergency blankets, flashlights, and basic first aid supplies to be used in a disaster.
