The Coast Guard has finished public hearings into the sinking of the fishing boat Lady Cecilia in March off the coast of Washington with four people aboard.
The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) will host an informational meeting at Warrenton Community Center on December 11, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. to answer questions about proposed recreation changes on the Clatsop Spit coming in 2013. The changes are driven by Oregon's commitment to provide habitat for western snowy plovers, a shorebird.
An investigation by the Clatsop County Drug Task Force has led to the arrest of Michael Loren Wangen 09/19/67, at his residence, 686 29th Street Apartment B in Astoria on November 26, 2012. Wangen is being charged with Encouraging Child Sexual Abuse in the first degree.
The Clatsop County Board of Commissioners is inviting public comment on a proposal by Gov. John Kitzhaber to restrict commercial salmon gillnet fishing on the lower Columbia River.
Corrections experts from across Oregon converged on the Clatsop County Jail on Monday. Their mission: to determine whether or not the facility complies with the 309 requirements laid out by the Oregon State Sheriff's Association for a correctional facility. The inspection team interviewed deputies and inmates in addition to reviewing documentation of compliance with the Oregon jail standards.
