The Sunset Empire Transportation District is recovering, paying off debt, and generally healthier as 2013 gets underway.
Sunday, February 24, 2 pm the afternoon of the Academy Awards, the Portland Chamber Orchestra will perform scores from Oscar-nominated films at Astoria's Liberty Theater. This concert will be hosted by movie music expert, Edmund Stone.
Clatsop County Drug Task Force detectives, with the assistance of Seaside Police Officers and Clatsop County Sheriff's Deputies, executed multiple search warrants at two different locations in Seaside, resulting in the arrest of four subjects, in the early hours Thursday morning. Information from numerous sources, including citizen complaints, regarding frequent drug related traffic at 581 S. Edgewood St. Apt #1, Seaside, Oregon.
It's a Win, Win,Win situation when the 28th annual On Air Auction hits the airwaves on all five Ohana Media Group radio stations this Saturday beginning at 9:00am. Each year since the auction was founded in 1985 on KAST 1370 AM listeners have the opportunity to bid on hundreds of items with an opening bid starting at half the retail price of the item.
Members of the Portland Timbers of Major League Soccer will visit the community of Astoria on Saturday, Jan. 19, as the club wraps up its community tour, "Dribble Oregon," While in Astoria, the Timbers will play host to a community event, a free youth soccer clinic and a meet-and-greet with select players.
Three local men will have completed a 16 week basic police course next Friday that prepares them to serve departments in Astoria, Seaside and Cannon beach.
On January 17, 2013 at 6:53 AM, Seaside Police received a 911 call reporting a male subject was in need of medical attention on the beach at 12th Avenue and the Prom. Seaside Police responded finding a male subject who was deceased.
Detectives were called to the scene along with the Clatsop County Medical Examiner. Their investigation found no signs of foul play and indicates Christopher Lee Bodell, 22 of Seaside died as a result of an apparent suicide. Next of kin have been notified.
The Oregon Department of Revenue announced today that its tax processing season will get a later start than usual this year, due to late tax law changes made by Congress to resolve the "fiscal cliff" crisis.
