The Astoria Fire Department fire engines will be parading through neighborhoods in Astoria on Monday, December 9th, Tuesday, December 10th, and Wednesday, December 11th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.  Firefighters, family, and friends will be picking up non-perishable food items and donations for needy families this holiday season.  The fire engines will be decorated with lights and playing Christmas music.  We've heard that Santa Claus will be making an appearance

In December, the Astoria Library Board will hold two public meetings pertaining to the Astoria Library Renovation Study.  The first meeting will take place on Wednesday, December 4 at 7:00PM, at the Astoria Public Library.   For those who cannot attend a weekday meeting, the Board will host a Saturday coffee on December 7 from 11:00AM to 1:00PM, in the Flag Room.

OSU Extension Clatsop County celebrated its 25th Annual OSU Master Gardener graduation with the graduation of 11 new OSU Master Gardeners at a ceremony on November 21.  To qualify for the Master Gardener designation, participants were required to complete 60 hours of training and 60 hours of volunteer time.

On November 20th, 2013, the Clatsop County Sheriff's Office, Warrenton Police Department, Seaside Police Department received several reports from citizens who received phones calls from a man pretending to be a Major with the Sheriff's Office. The man introduced himself as "Major Tom Wilson," and told the victims that they had missed jury duty and were going to be arrested.

Since the November 14 2013 arrest of Bradley Stay, Astoria Police have been busy working on the investigation into what has become a complex case involving racketeering and a substantial criminal conspiracy. Astoria Police used, a have logged more than 100 man hours in two days after the arrest. They have coordinated with agencies from as close as Warrenton and Seaside as well as two other states. Interagency coordination continues. As a result of the investigation Stay's girlfriend is now in custody.
