Warmer, wetter weather is arriving but not at a snap of the finger.  As the cold air exits enough of it will linger in spots to prompt snow showers that eventually turn to rain.  Highs today near 40, and a low tonight in the mid 30s, so expect a chance of rain and snow mixed overnight.  Bytomorrow it will all be rain with a high in the 40s and southerly wind at 10 mph or less.  The rest of the week looks more typical for late fall, clouds and rain showers.

Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into a single vehicle fatal crash on Highway 30 near Clatskanie in Clatsop County. The lone occupant of the vehicle was pronounced deceased and the crash closed the highway for about an hour.

The House Natural Resources Committee has unanimously approved two bills Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) introduced earlier this year to address tsunami debris landing on the Pacific Northwest Coast. The Tsunami Debris Cleanup Reimbursement Act, H.R. 1491, would allow the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to refund Oregon, other states, and local and tribal governments for tsunami debris cleanup expenses using $5 million in funding donated by the government of Japan.

Oregon Attorney General Ellen F. Rosenblum today issued the Department of Justice's "20 Worst Charities" list, an annual review of organizations that spend the vast majority of the donations they receive on professional fundraising and administrative costs rather than charity.

The city will move forward with a December 16th public hearing taking comment on the potential sale of seven excess city properties that have received offers. There are hundreds of these parcels that the city has deemed excess.

Family and friends of 25-year-old Chris Tremain, who was found deceased last Monday are gathering together in what they term as a "farewell for now" celebration & memorial this Saturday at The Astoria Event Center, located at 894 9th Street, between Commercial & Marine Drive at 5:00 P.M.  Public is welcome to join in remembrance of  Mr. Tremain.

For some, paying escalating water and sewer bills is a tough proposition.  Typically the city sends out upward to 350 shut-off first notices every other month and ends up shutting off service to an average of 8 households when deadlines aren't met.  With Monday's council decision some help will be on the way as the city approves a program that would set aside $10,000 to help those most in need.
