On April 12, 2017 the Pacific County Emergency Management Agency and the Washington Emergency Management Division will be conducting an Earthquake and Tsunami Roadshow. The presentations include earthquake and tsunami risk, actions you can take to be prepared (including tsunami evacuation planning), and information about whole community notifications. Interpretation services will be available for residents who speak Spanish.

The Oregon Bureau of labor and Industries has levied a substantial fine against an Astoria seafood processor following an investigation of worker complaints. The State labor watchdog found Da Yang Seafood failed to provide meal breaks for employees almost 1400 times between August and October of 2015.

Oregon State Police responded to a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on US Highway 26 near milepost 18. This incident location occurred near the city limits of Seaside at about 7:00 am Tuesday morning.
Preliminary investigation revealed a 2011 Subaru Legacy was traveling eastbound on US 26 near milepost 18. While traveling eastbound, the driver identified as Kathy Barnes, age 43, of Seaside Oregon struck a male pedestrian, who was standing in the travel portion of the roadway.
The deceased male has been identified as a 44 year old male from Ketchikan Alaska. The name of the involved deceased male will be released pending notification of next of kin.

On March 9th, 2017 at about 4 in the afternoon, Lincoln County Sheriff's Office Deputy Nick Vaille was involved in a brief pursuit in the City of Yachats.
Deputy Vaille located a 1997 Dodge van parked on W 2nd Street occupied by two subjects he identified as 26 year-old Joseph Cullison and 24 year-old Monica Sterken. Deputy Vaille was aware at that time that Cullison had an outstanding warrant for his arrest issued out of the Lincoln County Circuit Court in Newport.
In the course of attempting to get Mr. Cullison to exit the vehicle Deputy Vaille noticed Monica Sterken move from the back of the van to the driver's seat at which point she started the vehicle and accelerated West bound on W 2nd Street. Deputy Vaille pursued the van with flashing light and wailing siren, which must have been an interesting break in the normal quiet of the tiny village on the Coast Highway.
An off duty Coast Guardsmen rescued a kayaker beset by weather near Grays Harbor, Washington, Saturday. The kayaker was recovered from the Coast Guard Station Grays Harbor Petty Officer, who was underway on a nearby boat, and transferred to shore without further medical concerns.
Sometimes what starts as a simple traffic stop turns out less simple. That was the case Monday, March 6th when South Bend Police Officer Eric Fuller stopped a car at 12:30 that morning. The female passenger was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant from the Raymond Municipal Court. That's where the story begins.
