Separate grant programs offer funding for museums, historic cemeteries, historic building preservation and archaeological projects. Oregon's private-sector employers reported more job vacancies in fall 2013 than in prior years, with approximately 32,300 job vacancies estimated statewide, according to a Job Vacancy Survey recently completed by the Oregon Employment Department.
The number of vacancies has increased incrementally every year since 2010, when the economy began to recover from recession. Coupled with declines in the number of unemployed, these improvements in the labor market mean more opportunities for job seekers. In October, 133,100 Oregonians were unemployed, which means roughly 4 unemployed people for each private-sector vacancy.
On January 8th, deputies with the Pacific County Drug Task Force served a narcotics related search warrant upon a residence located in the 600 block of Plum Street in Raymond. Also assisting with the service of the warrant were deputies with the Pacific County Sheriff's Office and officers from the Raymond and South Bend police departments. A male subject, identified as Kenneth J. Taylor (age 51) was arrested in conjunction with the investigation that led to the request for the search warrant.
The Clatsop County Budget and Finance Department is the recipient of the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.
The award recognizes the commitment of the county board of commissioners and staff to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentations. These guidelines assess how well an entity's budget serves as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communications device. Budget documents must meet 14 mandatory criteria in those categories to qualify for the award.
The Clatsop County Assessment and Taxation Department will host a Business Personal Property training course Tuesday, Jan. 21. The training will provide business owners information on what is considered personal property in business and how to file returns, and explain tax calculations and collection laws. The course is free of charge. All businesses are required to file a Confidential Personal Property Return with the county assessor's office each year.
