Updated 12:14AM: A tsunami warning for southern Alaska and northern British Columbia has been downgraded to an advisory, while a warning has been issued for Hawaii. In addition, the West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Warning Center says parts of coastal Oregon and Northern California have been placed under a tsunami advisory. The alerts came after the U.S. Geological Survey said a 7.7-magnitude earthquake hit in the Queen Charlotte Islands area Saturday night. The Coast Guard rescued four boaters after their 27-foot recreational vessel Cathy Gail washed up against the A Jetty at Cape Disappointment, Wash., Friday. The Coast Guard received the report at 12:41 p.m., from a good Samaritan who was unable to assist the Cathy Gail due to its location.
November 15th the Warrenton Planning Commission intends to make a decision regarding the land use application for a proposed Walmart Superstore for the North Coast Business Park. The project site across from Costco on Highway 101 was confirmed Thursday evening at the Warrenton City Planning Commission Meeting as a Walmart. KAST News reported earlier Thrusday about the plans. The commission ultimately delayed the Walmart decision until November 15th.
