Saturday afternoon (6/10/17) around 2:30 PM a Seaside woman lost her life in a head-on crash on Highway 101. OSP Troopers and emergency personnel responded near milepost 14.  Officials say alcohol may have been a factor in that fatal crash.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 1984 Chevy Pickup, operated by Christopher Jeremy Costa, age 23, of Astoria, was northbound when, for unknown reasons, crossed the center line and struck a southbound 2001 Toyota Camry, operated by Kayla Lynn Weber, age 27, of Seaside, head-on. Weber was pronounced deceased at the scene and Costa was transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital in Astoria and later transported by Life Flight to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center for treatment of his serious injuries. There were no other occupants in the vehicles.

OSP was assisted by the Oregon Department of Transportation, Gearhart Police Department, Gearhart Fire and Rescue, Warrenton Fire and Rescue, Medix Ambulance, Clatsop County Medical Examiner, and Clatsop County Sheriff's Office. A single lane of the highway was closed for four hours for purposes of the investigation.

Alcohol is being investigated as a contributing factor in the crash. More information will be released when it becomes available as this is an ongoing investigation.
