The Astoria High Athletic Department has recently hired AHS alum, Kevin Goin, to serve as Head Boys Basketball Coach. Mr. Goin is a 1992 graduate of Astoria High School and a 1997 graduate of Eastern Oregon University where he earned his degree in Liberal Studies - General Science. His education also includes a Masters of Science in Curriculum and Instruction, which was earned in 2004 from Portland State University.
Mr. Goin was most recently an assistant varsity basketball coach at Central High School in Independence, Oregon. Prior to this he served as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at West Salem High (Salem, Or) from 2011-2013. He also has head basketball coaching experience having served as the head coach at North Salem High (Salem, Or) from 2002-2007 and at Lebanon High (Lebanon, Or) from 2000-2002.

Kevin is the son of Mike and Patsy Goin, longtime educators of the Astoria School District. Mike served as a teacher and coach at Astoria High and Patsy served in elementary education, primarily at Astor Elementary. Mike served as the Head Boys Basketball Coach for 24 years and was at the helm when the AHS Boys Basketball Team won the class 3A state championship in 1998. Kevin's sister Amy, is a 1997 graduate of Astoria High School.
