The City of Seaside issued the following statement regarding the departure of Stubby Lyons from the city council:

"It is with regret that the City of Seaside announces the resignation of Rafael "Stubby" Lyons from the Seaside City Council. Stubby has been a City Councilor for almost 14 years. Like in everything he does he has worked tirelessly to serve our City. We could always count on Stubby to support High School/Community projects including procuring and passing out flags during the July 4th parade. Stubby served several times as Council President, was instrumental in putting together the time capsule to commemorate the Sesquicentennial of Oregon's Statehood in 2009 , and has been working on a new podium for the Council Chambers.

Stubby has always been our Cheerleader and we will miss his dedicated commitment to the community."
