Thursday morning at about 6:00 am, the Pacific County Communications Center received a call from an alert citizen parked at the Seaview Beach access advising that he had just observed a man walking into the ocean fully clothed. The alert caller stated that he had tried to speak with the man about what his intentions were and the man kept walking into the ocean. A deputy from the Pacific County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and observed the fully clothed man in the ocean up to his chest. The deputy observed that the man was about 200 yards off shore.
Members of the South Pacific County Technical Rescue Team also responded and deployed a rescue swimmers and a personal water craft rescue vessel. The rescue swimmer was able to retrieve the man in the ocean safely and get him to shore. The man was transported to Ocean Beach Hospital in Ilwaco for observation. The Sheriff's Office would like to thank the alert citizens for calling and observing the subject in the ocean until help could arrive and the members of the South Pacific County Technical Rescue Team for their quick response.
