Six people were injured Thursday, one seriously, when a pick-up truck driver failed to notice a line of stopped cars at a highway 101 road project and slammed into on coming traffic.  Emergency crews from Long Beach, Ilwaco, and Chinook responded to the afternoon crash which closed the highway for about an hour as five victims were transported to Ocean Beach Hospital in Ilwaco for treatment of minor injuries and one person was life flighted in serious condition.

Authorites say a Century Link crew was working in the roadway Thursday afternoon and flaggers were controling traffic with the highway down to one lane during the work. A line of cars were waiting their turn when a white pick-up with Washington plates swerved to avoid hitting the stopped vehicles, clipped the last car in line and drove right into on coming traffic hittting a four door convertable head-on.

Police have not released the names of those in the accident.
