On Friday Astoria Police reports they participated in a multi agency minor decoy operation in which a minor tries to buy booze from targeted businesses. Astoria's State Licensed liquor store was one of six businesses that sold alcohol to the minor.
Officer Duryea, accompanied by a minor decoy and OLCC agents visited 15 licensed premises over a three hour period. In those three hours the decoy, a 20 year old male, attempted to purchase alcoholic beverages at licensed premises. He was refused service at the Ship Inn, Astoria Chevron, Astoria Texaco, Highway 76, the Labor Temple, The Merry Time Tavern, the Downtown Market, Beach Burrito and the Mini Mart. All of these businesses either asked for ID or flat refused to sell to the decoy.
Six businesses sold alcohol to the minor. Drina Daisy, Fulio's Pastaria and Tuscan Steak House, the Blue Thai, Astoria Coffee House, T Paul's Urban Cafe and the Astoria Liquor Store all sold alcohol to the minor. The individuals at each of these licensed premises were cited for Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor. The licensees may later receive administrative actions from the Oregon Liquor Control Board. The news release did not specify what those "administrative actions" might be.
