With the possibility of cool temps and icy roads Monday night the Astoria Fire Department is resceduling one night of the annual food drive Christmas parade. "Due to weather conditions and in the interest of safety for our members and for the general public, we have changed the schedule for this week's Christmas Food Drive/Parade." says Deputy Fire Chief Paul Gascoigne. "The parade was scheduled to begin tonight, starting in Emerald Heights, Alderbrook and Uppertown. Tonight's routes have been rescheduled for Thursday, December 12th."
Tomorrow's and Wednesday's routes are still as originally scheduled.
Tuesday, December 10th
The parade will start at 8th and Franklin and continue through the upper hills of Astoria.
Wednesday, December 11th
The parade will start at Columbia Street and continue through the south hills of Astoria.
(Rescheduled from Monday) Thursday, December 12th
The parade will start at Emerald Heights, through Alderbrook and Uppertown.
If you will not be home during the food parade in your area, you can drop off a bag of non-perishable food items to the Astoria Fire Department at 555 30th Street, Astoria. The lobby is open 9 am – 4 pm. You can also call ahead to arrange drop off outside of those hours by calling 503 325 2345
Cash donations will be accepted to help purchase turkeys and additional food for the Christmas Food Baskets. Checks can be made to: Christmas Basket Program. Checks or cash donations can be given during the food parade, or dropped off at Astoria Fire Department, 555 30th Street, Astoria.
Clatsop Post 12 American Legion has announced that they are closed today and that the regular monthly meeting planned for tonight has been cancelled and will be rescheduled.
