Authorities are urging caution this morning on local roads as they are dealing with a number of accidents the result of wintery conditions. Read more for updates

 The early morning snow has resulted in an icy driving conditions that caused a number of fender benders with police respondiong to the most serious traffic problems.  Warrenton Police Chief Matt Workman was supposed to take a day off Friday but found himself directing traffic around a jack knifed log truck. He called KAST live this morning to urge people to avoid driving and for those who must to use extreme caution.

 

The Loaves and Fishes meal site at peace Lutheran Church in Astoria will not be open today (Friday) but the Loaves and Fishes operation will be delivering meals as usual.  The Coast Guard asked non-essential personnel to come in later in the morning than normal.

Due to the current snow and icy road conditions, collection routes have been cancelled today in all Recology Western Oregon (RWO) service areas in Clatsop and Tillamook counties.

Weather permitting, RWO will provide service on Monday for all Friday customers who did not receive service today.  Please put your cans/carts out by 7 a.m. on Monday.

In addition, service has been rescheduled from Saturday to Monday for those commercial customers who have a normal pickup day of Saturday.

The Astoria Transfer Station will be open weathering permitting – please call before going.

SAT tests scheduled for Saturday for students in Astoria and Ilwaco have been cancelled.
