Pink has become the signature color for the campaign to raise money for breast cancer causes so much so that during the month of October you see it everywhere. Soon a famous Astoria icon will join in. Many large corporations have adopted the cause in their product packaging. A trip to the grocery store reveals row after row of everything from spring water to laundry detergent packaged in pink and surrounded by the familiar pink ribbons. It doesn't stop there. Around the U.S., government buildings, museums, historic structures and notable monuments change their normal night time lighting to the color pink. Come October 18th the famous Astoria Column joins the trend when instead of the white flood lights you will see the column glowing with pink light. It is expected that the nightly show will continue through the remainder of the month.
