Remember when Sunday was a day of rest?  Not this week.  The last Sunday Market of the season is Sunday from 10am to 3pm in downtown Astoria, the city has just announced that a big asphalt crack sealing project impacting many streets in town gets underway on Sunday...and..The annual Great Columbia Crossing is this Sunday as well.  The Columbia Crossing sold out it's maximum capacity of 3500 entrants so no one can register Sunday at the last minute.  Runners will start from the Washington side of the Columbia at 8:45am and walkers start 15 minutes later.  The Big Bridge will be open to one lane of traffic during the race and all participants will be off the bridge by 11am.

The city Engineering Department released information Friday morning that there may be disruptions to traffic on streets where a contractor crew will be working on street repairs.  Pacific Asphalt Surface Sealing, Contractor for the City of Astoria, will be starting pavement  maintenance work on Sunday, October 13. Work is anticipated to continue through Tuesday, October 15.
