The Coast Guard rescued four people who ended up in the water after their boat capsized near the north jetty at the entrance to the Columbia River, early Saturday.
Coast Guard Sector Columbia River received a report at approximately 7:15 a.m., of a capsized pleasure craft and four people in the water near the Columbia River entrance.
A crew from Air Station Astoria in Warrenton, Ore., launched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter. Crews from Coast Guard Station Cape Disappointment in Ilwaco, Wash., launched a 25-foot Response Boat-Small, and a 47-foot Motor Life Boat.
Crews arrived on scene shortly after 7:30 a.m
The Jayhawk crew hoisted two people from the water and transported them to Air Station Astoria to waiting EMS.
The RB-S crew rescued the other two people, then transferred them to the MLB crew who transported them to Station Cape Disappointment to waiting EMS.
There were no injuries reported.
Following the rescue, a crew from Station Cape Disappointment relaunched the MLB to return to the scene and assess the situation of the capsized vessel. The MLB crew righted the vessel and towed it back to the station.
