Sunset Empire Transportation District announces the addition of a new Park and Ride service for riders taking the NW Point Bus to Portland or have purchased a Connector Pass and will not be returning to Astoria the same day. The new service offers riders convenient off street parking at the Transit Center for up to 72 hours (3 days) at no charge. Parking is limited and will be offered on a first come, first serve basis. Riders will need to check in with staff at the Astoria Transit Center to show proof of their NW Point Bus ticket or Connector Pass purchase and to complete a Park and Ride application.
On another topic, Sunset Empire Transportation District Board of Commissioners (SETD) is seeking three (3) volunteer applicants from Clatsop County who would like to serve on the Senior and Disabled Transportation Advisory Committee (SDAC). The SDAC advises the District's Board on issues involving the Districts transportation plans, grants, policies and programs with a special emphasis on access for seniors and disabled riders. The committee is comprised of a total of 6 community members which are appointed by the SETD Board, an appointed SETD Board member and SETD staff as well. Terms of office are 2 years and begin in July and go through June 30 accordingly. Responsibilities include attending the scheduled meetings, making decisions when necessary and serving on subcommittees as needed.
