Shortly after 8:40 Monday morning Coast Guard group Astoria broadcast a message to mariners to be on the look-out for a vessel reportedly taking on water off shore.  The message gave coordinates of the area where the vessel, was said to be located and asked mariners to watch for the vessel in distress and report that information to sector Columbia River.  Within ten minutes of the first broadcast it was reported that the vessel Carmelita had located four people in the water near the location and have pulled them all on board to safety.  Coast Guard dispatched a motor lifeboat crew to assist.
