Getting around Astoria has been a little challenging for local drivers trying to use some their favorite routes to avoid heavy summer traffic through town as construction crews are working on a number of streets for the new city sewer separation project. Dubbed the "11th street CSO project", the work actually covers several streets in the downtown area where crews are digging up some of the roads to place new lines and re-route some old ones.  Here's what you can expect this week.

On Monday, CenturyLink will be working on Exchange between 7th St and 8th St. The intersection of 8th St and Exchange is expected to be closed on Monday and Tuesday. The intersection of 7th St and Exchange may be reduced to one lane of traffic.  Construction on 8th St between Duane and Grand. 8th St will be closed to through traffic in this area.  8th St and Franklin intersection is currently closed and will likely be closed for a couple of weeks.  8th St and Grand intersection will be closed for a few weeks starting Tuesday.  10th St is closed to through traffic between Irving and Kensington. The east-west intersections in this area are open to traffic.  11th St and Harrison intersection will be closed Monday for construction by City crews.  Construction on 12th St between Franklin and Harrison. The road will be closed during construction.
