As part of the Irving Avenue and 19th Street Bridge Replacement project in Astoria, work crews will be doing explorations to locate existing underground utilities. This work will take place on Tuesday, July 9th and Wednesday, July 10th. Motorists should expect a one-lane road closure during daytime hours where the work is taking place.  Traffic control, including flaggers, will be set up on site to direct traffic.

Construction of the new bridge is scheduled for summer 2014. During construction, Irving Avenue will be closed at 19th St and this road closure could last as long as a year. In the meantime technical consultants led by David Evans and Associates under the direction of the City of Astoria will be undertaking a variety of technical analyses and design tasks.
