An adult male motorcyclist was seriously injured Thursday morning in a near head-on collision with a small pickup on Highway 26 east of Manning in Washington County. Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation. The names of the involved operators are not available at this time.

On July 4, 2013 at approximately 11:50 a.m., a pickup driven by an adult male was westbound on Highway 26 near milepost 49 in heavy stop-and-go traffic. The pickup attempted to make a u-turn with limited visibility and as it pulled across the double solid center line a motorcycle collided into the front of the pickup.

The motorcycle's male operator was transported by LifeFlight to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center with serious injuries.

The pickup's driver was not injured and provided initial medical care until relieved by paramedics.

OSP was assisted at the scene by local fire responders and ODOT. The highway was closed with a detour in place for about an hour.
