In a news release Clatsop County says A familiar face is returning to the Clerk and Elections Office.County Manager Scott Somers announced that Maeve Kennedy Grimes will become County Clerk on Aug. 1.
Her salary will be $77,112 plus benefits.
Grimes served as Clerk from 2011 to 2012. Prior to that, she served with the Clatsop County District Attorney's Office from 2007 as trial assistant and victims services coordinator. She left Clatsop County in 2012 for a position as City Clerk for San Luis Obispo, Calif.
"I look forward to renewing friendships and working as part of county's management team," she said.
Grimes replaces Nicole Williams, who is leaving to become administrator/CEO of Clatsop Care Health District after 16 years of service with Clatsop County.
Elections Technician Sheryl Holcom will assume the Clerk duties on an interim basis until Grimes' arrival.
Prior to coming to Clatsop County in 2007, Grimes worked in Ireland on rural transportation planning. She has also served as a records manager and deputy city clerk with the City of Santa Barbara, Calif. She has a bachelor's degree from the University of California-Santa Barbara and master's degree in public administration from California Lutheran University.
The county clerk is the record-keeper for the county and administers public records, archives, legal recordings, passports and marriage licenses. The office also oversees elections and voter registration, and coordinates property tax appeals.
