The board of directors of Clatsop Community Bank voted to promote Joe Schulte to the position of president and CEO of the organization, subject to regulatory approval. Schulte served as interim CEO since Steve Ferber resigned from the position in late May. Previously, Schulte served as executive vice-president, a position he held since the bank's founding.
"I've worked with Joe for years and have every confidence in his ability to lead this organization and break new ground," said Ken Ulbricht, chairman of the board. "His record is outstanding, and I look forward to working with him as president and CEO."
"I am honored to serve in this capacity, and to have the opportunity to carry on with continued growth and service to the community," Schulte said. "I worked closely with my friend and predecessor, Steve Ferber, to start this bank, and I am invested in building upon all of the great things we already have in place. Most of all, I take a great deal of pride in the relationships we have in the community, and knowing that we're making a difference," he added.
Schulte has 17 years of experience in the financial industry, and is a director and original founder of the bank. He holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and finance, and a master's degree in business management.
Clatsop Community Bank recently marked the fifth anniversary of the opening of its first branch in Seaside in 2008. It is the only bank locally owned in Clatsop County, and was recently named among Oregon's 100 Best Companies to Work For by Oregon Business magazine for the fourth consecutive year.
