The Clatso County Commission board held public hearings on the 2013-14 fiscal year Clatsop County budget and budgets for the 4-H and Extension Service District, Road District No. 1, Rural Law Enforcement District and Westport Sewer Service District. No public testimony was offered. Commission Chairman Peter Huhtala told KAST news that the budget committees did an excellent job in preparing the budgets for the coming fiscal year.  Adoption of the budgets is scheduled for June 26.  The county has been taking special pains to live within it's income and any discussion involving the operation of the county government includes staff recommendations for less costly methods.  County Manager Scott Somers has been working to reform the structure of county government while not sacrificing service levels significantly which has already lead to cost savings in the new fiscal year budget.
