Saturday June 1st Columbia Memorial Hospital Foundation hosts the second annual "Denim and Diamonds" gala at the Clatsop County Fairgrounds.  The event is a major fundraiser for the foundation with this years proceeds going toward enhancing cancer care services at Columbia Memorial Hospital . CMH Director of marketing, Paul Mitchel told KAST News in a recent interview that the hospital is working toward offering radiation treatments as part of it's effort to bring more services to local residents.

The Gala features live and silent auctions, a delicious buffet dinner prepared by chef Chris Holen of the Baked Alaska restaurant, and live entertainment with country band Cloverfield performing.  One of the highlights at the event is a crowd favorite every year. Bidders will have the opportunity to compete for a tempting selection of homemade desserts in what the Foundation calls "Dessert frenzy', a fast, and furious event that kicks off the live bidding for the evening.  Another popular feature is the $100 raffle in which only 100 tickets will be sold and the winner may pick any live auction item as their prize with no exceptions. That means someone could win a cruise vacation, for example, with a $100 ticket.

Tickets to the event are $75 and may be reserved by phone at 503-325-3208. Doors open at 5:00pm Saturday June 1
