The ballot drop-box in front of the Clatsop County Elections Division office at 820 Exchange St. in Astoria will be accessible by vehicle on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for voters wishing to drop off their ballots for the May 21 Special District Election.
Access has been temporarily blocked due to construction for the City of Astoria's Combined Sewer Outflow project, which closed the intersection at Eighth and Exchange streets.
The intersection will be closed again beginning Monday morning and remain closed through Election Day on Tuesday, preventing vehicles from direct access to the drop-box. For those wishing to use the drop-box, one or more parking spaces will be reserved on Ninth Street next to the Elections office on Monday and Tuesday for motorists dropping off their ballots.
Motorists are reminded that other streets around the Elections Division office remain closed and detours are in place, requiring vehicles to take alternate routes to reach the drop-box.
Ballots must be received at the Elections Division office by 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 21.
