After announcing earlier this year that the Warrenton office for the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality would be closed and records held by that office might find a home with Clatsop County, or end up a in a file drawer in Portland, or Pendelton, the agency contacted KAST News this morning to say that the Warrenton office will remain open after all.  The agency says the hours of operation will be cut.

KAST News first reported the planned closure in April when contacted by local real estate agents who were very concerned over the closure.  The Warrenton office deals with local septic systems exclusively and all plans and approved permits are kept on file in that office. KAST learned that having regular access to those records is critical for the 18 local septic system installers, for the owners of homes on septic systems and for those building new systems, or planning additions.
