Wednesday Astoria POlice Officer Nicole Riley saw a male subject she believed was Kevin Morse, age 24 of Seaside, on foot in the area of 27th and Marine Drive. She verified that Morse had a felony warrant for his arrest and attempted to stop him.

He chose to flee on foot. Officer Riley chased him toward the riverwalk and through Milpond Village. The suspect ran behind Napa Auto parts where he was spotted by Chief Curzon who challenged him at gunpoint. The suspect complied with Chief Curzon and was taken into custody by Officer Riley. The suspect was identified by ID on his person. However, he was wearing a medical band from the hospital with a different name on it. Officers will continue to investigate that issue.

Morse was in a substantial amount of respiratory distress. Based on observations of EMTs who were on scene Medix responded. The subject admitted to taking narcotics and had an extremely elevated heart rate. He was transported to CMH where he was treated and released. He was then transported to the Clatsop County Jail. Morse was booked on a warrant for a post prison supervision violation for dangerous drugs. Any additional charges will be referred to the Clatsop County District Attorney.
