According to city engineer Cindy Moore, 'The contractor, Tapani, finished pouring concrete in the 8th St and Commercial intersection on Wednesday. The concrete is now curing so it will have sufficient strength to support traffic when the intersection reopens. Tapani expects to reopen the 8th St and Commercial intersection to traffic by the end of the day on Monday".
The big CSO sewer separation project moves forward this week helped along by the weather forecast which looks dry from the next few days. The city says the following schedule has been submitted by the contractor:
Paving and cleanup activities at 8th St and Commercial will happen on Monday.8th St and Commercial intersection will reopen Monday night.Construction on 8th St between Duane and Franklin will begin on Tuesday. 8th St will be closed to through traffic in this area. There will be intermittent intersection closures on 8th St at Duane, Exchange and Franklin over the next several weeks. There should be at least one traffic lane open at night and on the weekends through these intersections.Construction at the 10th St and Exchange intersection will resume on Monday. There may be short-term road closures associated with this work.Construction on Exchange between 9th and 10th Streets will begin Tuesday. This block is expected to be closed to traffic Tuesday and Wednesday.Construction may begin on 10th Street between Irving and Jerome towards the end of the week (April 25). The intersection of 10th and Irving will need to be closed for one day during this construction. The date of this closure is unknown at this time.
