The City of Astoria has launched a new look and functionality on it's website that proves to be a big improvement over the old site supplied through the league of Oregon Cities. The Address is the same: http://www.astoria.or.us/ but the look is decidedly different. City Manager Paul Benoit told KAST news "While the service was very affordable (on the old site), it was not easy to use and not very functional or flexible. We made the leap into 2013 and will be working to constantly improve and to use the site's communication and social media apps to better reach the public."
The site's updated look includes buttons for direct links to city departments along with separate sections for the information people look for most including an easy on line payment system for water bills and direct links to city council agenda files, the latest city news releases and at the bottom of the page there are direct links to other government websites and links that would be of interest to tourists.
The city has integraded it's GIS system so you can easily look up tax lots in the city and look up information on properties. Each department has contact information and details on different projects or plans they may be working on. The site makes it easy to get information on city code and permt information as well.
