As an Earth Day celebration, Tongue Point Job Corps Center (TPJCC) is hosting an open house and Green
Fest on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
In addition to displays by students and tours of some trades, community organizations with
commitment to Reducing, Recycling and Reusing have been invited to distribute information and recruit
volunteers. Those providing Information include SOLVE, washedashore.org, North Coast Land
Conservancy, Clatsop County Hazardous Waste, Astoria city parks and trails, North Coast Watershed
Association, Wildlife Center of the North Coast, PaintCare, Trail's End Recovery, North Coast Watershed
Association, Western Oregon Waster/Recology and Soldiers of Economics 4-H.
There will also be a display of artwork created by students from recycled/reused materials. Community
members or organizations who would like to display outdoor artwork or furniture created through
recycling and reusing are invited to display their work. Those interested should contact Tita Montero at
Earth Day is April 22 with the following week designated as Earth Week, when more than one billion
people around the world will be participating in ecological and green events. Global Youth Service Day,
an annual campaign that celebrates and mobilizes the millions of children and youth who improve their
communities each day concludes Earth Week on April 26-28, 2013.
