After facing the reality of losing Astoria's premiere annual event it seems things are back on track for the Astoria Regatta with a partially rejuvenated association and some new leadership at the helm.  This does not mean the future of the yearly festival is assured.  That will depend on a higher level of personal involvement by private citizens willing to volunteer on those critical committees that do all the planning and organizing year after year.

According to a news release from the Regatta Association this week the organization continues to invite volunteers to spend time on those committees that are responsible for the many activities that take place during regatta week including the Admiral's Reception, Boat Parade, Coronation, Float, Regatta Button, Parade and Wardrobe.

The Regatta Association meetings are open to the public and the next one is scheduled for April 11th at 7pm in the council chambers in Astoria City Hall.  The Association says there will be several updates on several matters that will be discussed. If one can't attend the meeting but still wishes to be involved the association has established an email address for information: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  By sending an email to that address you will be able to get updates sent to you regarding the regatta and you may use that email address to volunteer for committee work.
