Another cooperative venture between the city of Astoria, Columbia memorial hospital and Clatsop community college is in the works. The city council approved a $2000.00 expenditure to study the feasibility of placing a wellness center inside the astoria aquatic center.

A representative of the Astoria mom's club asked for council support for a project to build restrooms at lindstrom park.  The council passed a resolution of support. The mom's group plans to do the fundraising and work with the city on design and construction

The Astoria Senior Center will be completely overhauled thanks to a community development block grant for 1.5 million dollars accepted by the city council last night.  The grant does not require a match however fundraising is underway to buy those things the grant does not cover such as new kitchen equipment and dining furniture.

The renovation work will include structural and roof repairs, upgrades to the plumbing and electrical service and provide for the purchase and installation of an elevator to the basement where a new kitchen will be built for the senior meals program.
