A Washington state man suspected of killing his grandparents has been captured in a Lincoln City motel room and sent to a Portland hospital for treatment of what are described as serious self-inflicted cuts.

Lincoln City Police Chief Keith Kilian says police who stormed a motel room after a daylong standoff on Tuesday found Michael Boysen lying on his back on the floor with apparently self-inflicted cuts.

Kilian says Boysen was driven to meet a Life Flight bound for Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland. Hospital spokeswoman Judy Pahl (paul) says he arrived late Tuesday night.

She described his initial condition as critical.

The bodies of Boysen's grandparents, Robert and Norma Taylor, were found Saturday in their suburban Seattle home, a day after Boysen was released from prison and was greeted with a welcome home party.
