On February 5, 2013 at 1:20pm Astoria Police responded to the 1400 block of 8th street where a father had reported that one of his sons had shot another one. Astoria Police responded and found Clarence Long, age 39 with a gunshot wound to his leg in the front room of the house. In the yard of the house they located David Long II, age 42. David and Clarence are brothers. Both Long brothers live at the residence with their parents.

After talking to the parties in the house it appears that the two brothers became involved in an argument and during the argument David shot Clarence.

Clarence was treated for a gunshot wound to his leg by Medix Ambulance and Astoria Fire. He was transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital by Medix Ambulance. While cooperative, David declined to be interviewed away from the scene. David was arrested on one count of Assault I. When he arrived at the jail he complained of pain in an arm where he said he was struck by his brother. Prior to being booked he was transported to the Clatsop County Jail for medical clearance.
