MERTS Offers Emergency Workshop For Fishermen

The Clatsop Community College Marine and Environmental Research Station is offering a Drill Conductor course for fishermen Feb. 6-8.  The Drill Conductor course teaches skills needed in the event of an emergency aboard a vessel  including man overboard, flooding, fire, and abandon ship drills as well as how to don an immersion suit and enter a life raft.  It is also required for issuance of the Commercial Fishing Vessel decal.

Class begins at 8 a.m., Feb. 6-8, at the MERTS campus at 6540A Liberty Lane, Astoria, Ore.  Additional classes will be taught March 15-18 for those unable to attend.
