Providence Health & Services is pleased to announce that Michael Blauer has
accepted the position of chief executive for Providence Seaside Hospital. He replaces Krista
Farnham, who accepted the chief operations officer position at Providence Portland Medical
Center in November.

"I am very excited to be a part of Providence and am honored to serve in a value-based
organization that serves the poor through compassionate service, says Blauer. My wife and I are
looking forward to being involved in the community and helping to serve our neighbors."

Prior to coming to Providence Seaside Hospital, Blauer served as the chief executive of
Morrow County Health District in Heppner, Ore. During his time at Morrow County Health
District, he provided oversight to a critical access hospital, two rural health clinics, home health
and hospice, emergency medical services, and an assisted living facility.
"Blauer's experience as a leader in a critical access hospital, coupled with his energy,
dedication and compassion, are great additions to Seaside, explains Janice Berger, chief
executive of Providence's Western Oregon Region. He brings renewed enthusiasm and is excited
to be part of the team that provides excellent medical services to the North Coast community."

Blauer grew up in Idaho and attended Idaho State University in Pocatello, ID where he
graduated magna cum laude with two degrees, a bachelor's in business management and a
bachelor's of arts in Spanish. He later attended University of Michigan where he earned a
master's in health services administration.
