A Newport-area man was arrested Tuesday after being indicted by a Lincoln County Grand Jury on drug-related charges following an investigation by the Lincoln Interagency Narcotics Team (LINT).
On January 29, 2013, Newport Police Department arrested ROBERT LEE STERLING, age 29, following an indictment on January 22nd and issuance of an arrest warrant for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance - Methamphetamine and Frequenting / Maintaining a Place Where Controlled Substances Are Kept or Used.
The arrest followed a LINT investigation in which detectives, with the assistance of Newport Police Department, served a search warrant January 16th at a residence in the 700 block of NW Coast Street and arrested STERLING for drug-related charges. During the service of the warrant and the subsequent search of the residence, officers located methamphetamine, packaging materials, digital scales, a firearm, and other evidence of drug use and sales. A second arrest was made during the ongoing investigation.
LINT is comprised of members from Oregon State Police, Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Newport Police Department, Lincoln City Police Department, and Lincoln County District Attorney's Office.
