Sunset Empire Transportation District has announced that its annual "Ridership Appreciation Day" will be held on January 31, 2013. SETD sets aside one day every year and offers free bus service on all regular routes in Clatsop County as a gesture of appreciation to regular bus riders and the local community for their support throughout the past year. SETD encourages everyone to take advantage of this free service and Ride the Bus!
The SETD Ridership Appreciation Day is scheduled to coincide with the Project Homeless Connect Jessica MacClay Memorial which is also being held on Thursday, January 31, 2013, at the Seaside Convention Center from 10 AM to 4 PM. Clatsop Community Action mourns tragic loss of Jessica Shackelton Maclay...her legacy is Project Homeless Connect...she coordinated the first two (ever) events for Clatsop County.Maclay died from injuries sustained in a car accident in February of 2011. At Project Homeless Connect, over 40 local, state, nonprofits, government, and faith-based organizations provides homeless individuals and families with services such as sight and hearing testing, food, housing information, hygiene products, medical care, mental health services, substance abuse treatment, SSI benefits, legal advice, birth certificates, voice mail and mailing addresses, employment information, education information, and more. Volunteers escort participants through the services being provided, help set up and clean up, share lunch with participants, provide medical testing, assist with the personal care pantry, and meet many individuals and families struggling with homelessness.
