Members of the Portland Timbers of Major League Soccer will visit the community of Astoria on Saturday, Jan. 19, as the club wraps up its community tour, "Dribble Oregon," While in Astoria, the Timbers will play host to a community event, a free youth soccer clinic and a meet-and-greet with select players.
Dribble Oregon is a six-stop community tour, taking the club around Oregon and Southwest Washington to engage with area fans. In 2013, Dribble Oregon has visited the communities of Vancouver, Wash., Pendleton, Medford, Eugene and Klamath Falls. Timbers players Jack Jewsbury and Chris Taylor will join mascot Timber Joey and volunteers from Timbers community pillar partner Friends of Trees in planting trees near Battery Russell at Fort Stevens State Park. Together, the Timbers and Friends of Trees have planted hundreds of trees across the state of Oregon since 2011. Event starts at 10 a.m. at Battery Russell at Fort Stevens State Park
