The Coast Guard has issued a Captain of the Port order to terminate the voyage of the fishing vessel Swell Rider after it was involved in a collision Thursday.

Sector Columbia River received notification that the 73-foot Swell Rider and the 67-foot fishing vessel Eclipse collided at the Hammond Marina in Hammond, Ore., Thursday at approximately 11:30 p.m.

A 47-foot motor lifeboat crew from Station Cape Disappointment responded to the scene and conducted boardings of both vessels.  No significant damage to either vessel was discovered, but the Eclipse was found to have an expired EPIRB registration while the Swell Rider was discovered to have a fire extinguishing system incompliant with current regulations.  Furthermore, it was reported no person was at the helm of the Swell Rider at the time of the collision.

Sector Columbia River enforcement personnel are conducting an investigation of the incident.  No drug tests were made during the boarding, and no injuries were reported as a result of the accident.
