On December 27, 2012 Astoria Police Officers Nicole Riley and Scott DeLapp responded to a disturbance at 2863 Marine Drive. Clatsop County Sheriff's deputy Jason Hoover responded to assist. The initial call indicated a fight at that residence. When officers arrived they contacted several people at and around the house.
During these contacts they learned that one of the people who had been involved in the fight was Blake Buckman, age 29, Astoria. Who was upstairs in the residence. Officers checked and learned that Buckman had a warrant for his arrest. When officers located Buckman he was in an upstairs room.
Deputy Hoover went up stairs and called to Blake Buckman, who after some time came out of a bedroom. When he came out of the room someone in the room closed the door behind him. Deputy Hoover could hear people moving around in the room. He continued to call to them and finally Jessica Slaughter, age 21 of Warrenton came out of the bedroom. She also had a warrant and was arrested. The officers asked her who else was in the room. She gave them a first name of Giovanni. Giovanni did not respond to the repeated calls. The officers went into the bedroom and found Giovanni Avila, age 24 of Astoria, hiding in a closet. He also had a warrant. Both Slaughter and Avila are listed as transients. While upstairs the officers also located a bicycle frame and several hundred dollars worth of tools they believed may have been stolen.
