The Clatsop County Sheriff's Office is making available ATV Safety classes to Clatsop County youth. As of January of 2012 all youth riding ATV's on public lands in Oregon are required to have completed a "hands on" class.

On Saturday, December 29, 2012 we are conducting two of these classes. The morning session, beginning at 9:00 AM, we will conduct the OSU/4H Youth Rider Endorsement class. This is a two hour evaluation for youth with riding experience.

At 1:00 PM we will conduct the ATV Safety Institute Ridercourse, a four hour training for any youth, and particularly those with little or no prior riding experience.

The classes take place at the Clatsop County Fairgrounds Indoor arena on Walluski Loop.

Registration for the OSU/4H class is on line at OregonATVSafety.com. The cost for Oregon resident youth is $10.00.

Registration for the ATV Ridercourse, the four hour afternoon session  is handled by the ATV Safety Institute. Parents call Enrollment Express at 800-887-2887. The cost for Oregon resident youth is $5.00. Be sure to request the Oregon Resident Tuition Subsidy.

Students are required to obtain the Oregon ATV Safety Education Card, by completing online training available at www.rideatvoregon.org prior to attending this hands on class. This online course is free.

Additional information is available on the internet at www.atvsafety.org or www.rideatvoregon.org.
