Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into Sunday morning's minor injury crash involving a loaded log truck and a passenger vehicle on Highway 105 (Alternate Highway 101) south of Astoria near Wireless Road. The crash closed the road for about 3 hours until the scene was cleared.

According to Trooper Jessica Spurlock, on December 9, 2012 at approximately 11:20 a.m., a loaded log truck driven by WILLIAM A. FLETCHER, age 57, from Astoria, was northbound on Highway 105 near milepost 6 when the log load shifted causing FLETCHER to lose control. The truck and trailer overturned onto their side and the load of logs separated from the trailer. One of the logs rolled into the left side of a southbound Toyota Echo driven by KRISTINA M. HESS, age 52, from Astoria.

FLETCHER was transported by ambulance to Columbia Memorial Hospital with possible minor injury.

HESS was not injured.

The logs and overturned vehicles came to rest blocking the highway. Speed and wet roads are also believed to be contributing factors.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Clatsop County Sheriff's Office, Astoria Police Department, Lewis & Clark Fire Department and ODOT.
