A lawsuit filed against the Lincoln County School District and some Newport teachers accuses them of failing to prevent a 6-year-old boy from sexually assaulting other students and failing to report the abuse or inform parents.
The federal lawsuit filed Nov. 15 seeks nearly $3 million on behalf of five elementary school students who were also 6 or 7.
Reportedly, the boy touched their genitals, hit them in the crotch and exposed himself in classrooms and on the playground from the fall of 2009 to the spring of 2010.
Attorney Ken Ammann says one of the victims was told not to be a tattle tale.
Superintendent Tom Rinearson said in a press release Thursday the district has improved staff training and made changes to minimize student-on-student misconduct.
