The Oregon Health Authority has appointed Dr. Donna Larson, Clatsop Community College Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs, to its Non-Traditional Health Care Worker Steering Committee. This committee will support and foster the use of non-traditional health care workforces such as Community Health Workers, Peer Wellness Specialists, Personal Health Navigators and Doulas. Workforces in these areas are considered critical to the success of Oregon's new coordinated model of care.
In making its selections for the Steering Committee from among 76 applications, the Oregon Health Authority noted its aim to bring together a culturally, professionally and geographically diverse group with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. "I'm thrilled to be part of the Non-Traditional Health Care Worker Steering Committee. Non-traditional health care workers will play an important role in Governor Kitzhaber's health care transformation and I am pleased to play a role in that process," says Dr. Larson.
