OR202: M.P. 18.8 (Buttercup Slide)

(Nehalem Highway, mile post 18.8)

This project consists of constructing a retaining wall to repair a slide area along OR202 about 18 miles southeast of Astoria .

The scheduled work includes installation of drainage along the slide area. During December 3-7, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, the project area will be restricted to one lane of travel with flaggers controlling two-way traffic. With the single eastbound lane of traffic, it is also necessary to restrict the width for large vehicles to 8 foot 6 inches. And since the travel lane is also on the side of the slide, it is necessary to impose weight requirements of 20,000 pounds for single axle and 34,000 for tandem axle vehicles. During all other hours and after December 7, the road will continue to remain as a self-regulating one lane road. Expect delays of up to 20 minutes and drive through the area with caution. Oregon State Police will be enforcing the speed limit through the work zone area. The project is scheduled to be completed in February 2013.
